I have been hearing the word "last" lately.
"Last time we're altogether"...
"Last unit dinner"...
"Last class"....
"Last weekend with my friends"...
etc.
etc.
etc.
I don't really like that word. It is too final. It's like closing the book for good. I just don't like it.
I can't believe this school year will be over in 5 days.
I can't believe all the residents practically packed all their rooms up already.
It's so nuts to think about the beginning of this year when the residents didn't really know each other and when every interaction could have been dubbed "awkward". I have loved watching the community and friendships form, and I know a lot of them will continue.
There is lots to do in these "last" days. I have letters to write, cards to make, thank you's to send, one more Brazil meeting, study guides to fill out, 3 finals to study for, 17 residents to check out, and four on duty nights to work. It's like a train pushing down the tracks.
Last isn't fun. But it leaves room for firsts! FOUR on duty nights?
