Dad Turns 50.

Yesterday, we celebrated my dad's 50th birthday. I cannot believe he is 50! I was thankful to have the opportunity to go home and spend the weekend with my family. It just so happened that Ben was also able to come with, so he got to celebrate this milestone birthday with us.

I know many people would say that they have been through a lot in their life. The cool thing about my dad is that he has been through a lot but would never say he has. He is one of the strongest people I know, and he has and will always be someone that I look up to. My dad was not given the easiest life as a kid and may not have been the nicest of all people (I can only say this because I know he would say it himself). He met my mom and has never been the same. When I was in fourth grade, he discovered this "church" idea, and before I knew it, he was bringing me, my brother, and my mom to church every week. I watched him grow into this godly man and be completely transformed by the love of the Lord. When he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a few years later, he clung on to Christ. When both of his parents passed away, he clung on to Christ. As he is continuing to battle all the complications of MS, he clings to Christ. I feel privileged to be a part of his life and to be able to call him my dad. I know I might not understand every single thought that goes through his brain, and I may not see a lot of the burdens that he chooses to deal with privately. What I do know is that I am so proud of him, and I appreciate the way he cares for me and my family more than I probably have ever told him. I am so glad I got to be a part of his birthday weekend.

So happy birthday dad! I love you bunches and bunches.
