Thinking Ahead.

Tonight we are hosting a party for all the students that have already been accepted to IWU for the fall. These students will get tours of all the dorms and be given a bunch of free things and reasons why they should choose IWU. I will stand in the lobby and warmly greet them and be excited for their new journey that awaits them.

It is so hard to be present in the NOW these days. You try so hard to focus on where you are at now and not think about the future (senior year classes, graduation, new staff, new residents, summer, etc.), but I feel like that it is all part of the natural process of life and things like an accepted students party force you to think ahead. I can't help but think about how I am quickly approaching my last year of college and how I will be going through a lot of changes in the next year. Even just talking to Lindsay last night and realizing what is lying in front of both her and I in the months to come. It brings so many waves of emotions. It is going to be so important to be intentional. I don't want these moments to pass me by because I was too busy thinking ahead.

It's crazy the kind of thoughts that can be sparked just because of an accepted students party.

  1. Now it makes sense why adults are always looking at their kids like they just GREW UP all of a sudden. Am I right? Am I right?
